Why we removed 3 rows — and what that says about this guide
StraighterLine’s published Columbia Southern table contains three rows that cannot be right: Sociology mapping to Macroeconomics, Macroeconomics mapping to Medical Terminology (duplicating the real MEDTERM row), and College Algebra mapping to Elementary Statistics. We re-pulled the source twice — the errors persist in the data itself, not our extraction. Rather than publish plausible-looking mistakes, we omit those rows until they can be checked against Columbia Southern’s official articulation grid (PDF dated 8/7/25, linked in Sources). Every other row here survived that same scrutiny — which is exactly the standard we apply to all of these guides.

Columbia Southern’s economics differ from every other partner in this library: its own per-credit rate is already among the lowest anywhere, so StraighterLine’s per-course savings are smaller in dollars — but the 75% transfer ceiling, D-grade acceptance, and $0 textbooks make it the most forgiving transfer environment we track. The list is compact and we trimmed it further, omitting three rows whose source data was visibly corrupted. When Columbia Southern’s official grid (PDF dated 8/7/25) is cross-checked, any rescued rows will be restored here.

Columbia Southern + StraighterLine questions
Does Columbia Southern University accept StraighterLine credits?
Yes — Columbia Southern maintains a formal articulation with StraighterLine and publishes its own transfer grid. Pass with 70% or higher and send your official StraighterLine transcript. Our table shows the 20 mappings we could verify.
Why does this guide show 20 courses when StraighterLine’s page lists 23?
Because three rows in StraighterLine’s widget are visibly corrupted — Sociology mapping to Macroeconomics, Macroeconomics mapping to Medical Terminology, and College Algebra mapping to Elementary Statistics. We verified the errors persist in the source data and omit those rows until Columbia Southern’s official grid resolves them. We publish verified data or nothing.
How much of a Columbia Southern degree can transfer credit cover?
Up to 75% of an undergraduate program — one of the highest allowances among partners. Grades of D or above are accepted for most requirements (C for some program-specific courses).
What makes Columbia Southern unusually cheap?
A per-credit rate the university describes as less than half its competitors’, plus textbooks always included at $0. StraighterLine still undercuts the per-course cost, and the two discounts stack.
Will StraighterLine math and science courses meet CSU requirements?
Sometimes as electives: StraighterLine’s own CSU disclaimer says gen-ed Math and Natural Science rows “may not transfer as shown,” and where a program requires specific courses, StraighterLine credit can still apply as Open Electives. Ask admissions about your exact program before buying science courses.
Which programs is Columbia Southern best known for?
Occupational safety and health (OSHA-aligned), fire science, criminal justice, and health administration — the Medical Terminology → HCA 1301 row is the gateway into its healthcare programs.
