Our Mission to Make Higher Education More Accessible & Affordable For Everyone

As Seen In

OnlineDegree.com Courses No Longer Being Offered

We began on a mission to make college more affordable, and to keep our courses free… however, the costs associated with providing this service have become too great. We made the difficult decision to cease offering our free courses on January 29, 2025.     We want to thank all of the esteemed faculty, advisors, and partner universities for supporting us in the endeavor.  It was only possible through our collective efforts and dedication.

Why The Project?

We want to help millions of people go back to school who’ve been unable to take that first critical step. We believe in the value of higher education and the institutions of learning in our country. However, university and college education can still be too expensive and unapproachable for the majority of Americans. Normal distractions of work, bills, and home life often prevent someone from being able to dedicate the appropriate time and money to a traditional 4-year degree program. This has led to a rise in new marketplace offerings which attempt to bypass traditional universities completely…we think that’s a problem and unnecessary.  Our solution addresses the issues of higher education’s accessibility and affordability and keeps students on a proper collegiate path.

Student Debt…THE Crisis of our Time

Student debt has now reached a level of epic proportions.  At $1.34 Trillion in the United States alone, it’s larger than both Auto and Credit Card debt.  It places a crushing burden on young learners, and often prevents working adults from getting the modern skills and education they need to improve their livelihood. We’re working tirelessly to alleviate that burden and help people get years back from their lives. It means someone could buy a home sooner, spend more time with family, or pursue the job of their dreams rather than working any job to meet their debt payments.

"Rather than making marginal progress in higher education's quality, we need to be making radical progress on its accessibility."
Grant Aldrich Founder, OnlineDegree.com

We Support The Open Source Learning Movement And Open Educational Resources

We firmly believe in the benefits of utilizing open source or Open Educational Resources (OER) for students. By using OER in higher education, student’s costs of learning are kept to an absolute minimum. OER has given OnlineDegree.com the ability to achieve it’s goal of making the offering completely free for students, and sets of a positive example to encourage the adoption of these materials worldwide.
