Pacific Islands University (PIU) is a higher education institute located in the village of Mangilao, Guam which is located in the western Pacific. The university was established in 1976 by Liebenzell Mission. It was initially named the Micronesian Institute of Biblical Studies. PIU operated in a rented campus till it purchased its current campus in 1997 and relocated two years later. In 2004, the college was accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools. In the following years, the college established several branch campuses in Chuuk, Palau, and Yap islands of Micronesia. In 2009, the name of the college was changed to its current name to indicate its expansion by offering graduate degree programs. The college is currently administered by a board of directors representing the Palau Evangelical Church, the Liebenzell Mission International and Yap Evangelical Church.
