WUSTL or WashU as it is shortly called is a private higher education institute and a research university. It was founded upon realizing the scarcity of higher learning institutes in the region and was granted the charter by the Missouri General Assembly in 1853. Following the vision behind it, the institute grew rapidly making academic as well as physical expansions in a short period of time.

It is based in St. Louis, Missouri and consists of multiple campuses. The university embodies progressive intellectual development, encouraging discovery as it incorporates research as part of its curriculum and achieving excellence through scholarship and rigor.

At Washington University in St Louis, students undergo development and growth through engagement in various fields. As part of its extracurricular activities, students find more than 70 student clubs offering various interests. Diversity is integrated through various events and activities held celebrating global societies and different cultures. The university also has a strong focus on arts and creative development. The students enjoy and take part in lecture series, performances in theatre and art galleries. The university also offers programs encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship in its students; students are encouraged to bring their ideas to life, on the campus. Furthermore, the university promotes sustainability through its center InCEES which offers various collaborations and programs including funded researches, workshops, lectures etc. The university also runs its media called ‘The Source’ which aims at highlighting achievements, accomplishments and all the great work being done by faculty and the students. Other student activities on campus include being part of student-run organizations, learning leadership skills, community engagement and being part of the Student union. Students also take part in athletics, at NCAA Division III; the teams are called Bears and the official campus colors are Green and Red.

Its academic programs consist of undergraduate and graduate programs in more than 90 fields of study. Its prominent facilities/departments are Olin Business School, Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts, Brown School, Farrell Learning and Teaching Center Gallery, Kemper Art Museum, Lieberman Graduate Center, Holmes Lounge, Anheuser Busch Hall and more.
