About Lincoln University- Oakland
LU is a private higher education institute and traces its roots to the ideas of its founder Dr. Benjamin Franklin Lickey, which came to be materialised as he initially established a law program in year 1919. The program grew and it was eventually chartered under the laws of California in year 1926. Further expansion came with addition of business programs during 1960s and 1970s.
By early 21st century, it further branched into information science and technological problems. Lincoln University is based in Oakland, California. Offering education through a traditional curriculum and framework, the university aims to offer academic excellence, practical skill training, and building a strong basis for successful career.
On the campus, at LU students find a range of activities that are aimed at providing students with a sense of purpose and are more than just academic learning, including experiential learning opportunities. There are plenty of activities and services that serve as student support. There are services for the new students to help them get around campus and receive further help through academic guidance and personal counselling if falling short in any particular area or facing obstacles. The university also provides with career services, helping students to choose the right career, helping them find internships and also searching for the right jobs and being prepared for them. The students also find plenty of extracurricular activities on campus; Lincoln University Student Association (LUSA) is the student representative body which voices student issues, work for and promote a healthy campus life and organise student activities. Some of these activities consist of social cultural and also academic activities aimed at creating a more cohesive student body as well as culturally diverse individuals.
At the university, the academic programs offered consist of both undergraduate and graduate programs: two Bachelors degree programs, three Masters degree and a Doctoral program. It also offers two minors and a graduate certificate.
