About Johnson & Wales University-Denver
JWU Denver is among the four campuses of Johnson & Wales University, which is a private and non profit higher education institute, founded in year 1914. The institute started as a specialised business education institute founded by Gertrude I. Johnson and Mary T. Wales however with time, the institute opened up to other academic disciplines, including arts, science, engineering and others. It is accredited by New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC).
As it transformed into a university, it gradually added campuses across the country adding one in Denver, Colorado in year 2000. With relevant and practical educational programs, the university has since been engaged in making committed leaders and professionals for progressive communities.
The campus life at Johnson & Wales University-Denver is a unique combination of knowledge and its application as students find many extracurricular activities which offer them practical insights and experiences. These start with over 40 student clubs and organisations which include professional, cultural, recreational clubs; there is also the Greek life. Understanding the need to shape the students as the leaders for their communities, the development begins at the university through development programs such as Emerging Leader Series or active community participation. Community engagement includes volunteering hours at food banks, schools, youth groups, environmental causes and others. Practical application of these leadership skills also occurs as students run Student Government Association, representing students to the administration by working at Campus Activities Board and organising student events such as Frightmare, Spring Fling, Greatest Day of Fun, comedy shows, music, speakers and many more. Students also find the liberty to practice their own faith and maintain their spirituality on the campus. The university campus also has its athletic participation at NAIA and the official colors are Blue and White.
The academic programs at the JWU Denver consist of two Associate degree programs, over 20 Bachelors degree programs, and five Masters degree programs.
