Fremont College About Fremont College

Fremont college is a for profit educational institute that aims at providing professional education to adults. It was originally a branch of Platt College that was established in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1879. The college was founded in 1986 in Cerritos, California. It is owned by Fremont Private Investments. The college adopts a teaching methodology called Professional Action Learning that is based on the research conducted by Dr. Sabrin Kay at the University of Pennsylvania. The methodology aims at utilizing various teaching techniques beyond the standard text books and exams. It is divided into six steps starting by providing traditional text books, lectures and educational events, then the students engage into a questioning dialogue followed by group discussions. Afterwards students play teaching roles to deliver the courses by themselves and provide final summary. At this point the students work becomes part of the future content. The college curriculum and the teaching methodology effectiveness are revised regularly by the board of the advisory board.

Fremont College offers intensive bachelor degree that takes 15 months only to complete. The associate’s degree also takes 15 months to complete. Fremont is divided into four distinctive colleges. Some of the programs are also available in online learning mode. Additionally, the college provides online preparation course for GED exam which students need to pass before being enrolled into a degree program. In 2012, the college announced the launch of a new scholarship program; Fremont College Tiger scholarship. In addition to financial support, the scholarship provides hands-on job training and better job opportunities by getting direct connections to top CEOs in South California. The College is currently accredited by ACCSC, BPPE and US department of education. It is also approved by SEVP and California Message Therapy Council.
