Columbia College of Nursing About Columbia College of Nursing

CCON is an institute providing nursing education since its beginning in the year 1901. It was founded by Dr. Nathaniel A. Gray and Olive B. Knowlton, who was a nurse, as Knowlton Hospital and Training School. It offered three year education programs and by 1909 was taken over by Columbia Hospital Corporation. By 1983 baccalaureate programs were started being offered and with that the college also changed its name to the present name.

Columbia College of Nursing is based in Glendale, Wisconsin and had the honor of having oldest three year education program in the entire state. The college is strictly dedicated to producing nurses who are not only professionals but caring individuals who are practically trained, intellectually enlightened and perfected to care for their communities.

At CCON, the future nurses are provided with academic resources and support to begin with. Nursing education is taken seriously and so for students looking for extra academic enrichment or simply facing any difficulty are offered individual tutoring or be made part of interactive study groups. There are also activities held to improve study as well as teach better time management to students. Services such as Career services are also offered which help ensure smooth transition from academics to launching a lifelong career. The student life at the campus also offers the official honor society of nursing, celebrating the high academic and other achievements of the students. Also, there is Student Nurse Association (SNA); a student led group, SNA is focused on making bringing programs which help in academic and professional development of the students. It also brings community engagement through fundraising, local and international community projects and also social and entertainment activities such as SNA End of Semester Night Out.

The academic programs offered at the college consist of Bachelors of Science of Nursing (BSN) Degree and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree with a focus on the Clinical Nurse Leader, affiliated with Columbia St. Mary’s Health System.
