Columbia Basin College About Columbia Basin College

CBC is a community college that marks its beginnings in the year 1955 when it first opened up for classes. The college started humbly and small and held its classes at the former Pasco Naval Airbase. But by 1957 it found its permanent home as its first building completed construction.  In a major turn of events, the college was separated from Pasco School District and became the 19th community college district in the state of Washington.

Columbia Basin College is based in Pasco, Washington and has been accredited by Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The aim of the college is to provide equal, fair and quality educational opportunities for its diverse set of students. It aims to educate and empower them to have bright careers and become leaders not only in their professions but for the communities as well, in which they thrive.

Serving the counties of Benton and Franklin, CBC offers an exciting campus life for its students. Students find social, creative as well as recreational opportunities during their entire time at the college. There are student clubs which the students find useful as social and learning platforms, both. With the clubs, the students also find opportunity to display their leadership capabilities and to polish their skills. At present there are 24 student clubs on campus. There is also a strong focus on arts, and the arts center provides performing arts opportunities to the students. There are arts exhibits, musical concerts, theatre performances, lecture series and more. It also brings cultural events which helps break down barriers and is also a learning opportunity about other cultures. Considering physical fitness to be an important aspect for the mental health of its students, the college offers a fitness center on campus.
