About University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
A liberal arts university, UW–Eau Claire is state university and is part of the University of Wisconsin System. The present day university started in the year 1916 when it was established as Eau Claire State Normal School to offer teachers programs. Over the time, it developed, had its name changed and soon started offering bachelor level programs. During 1960s, it went through many changes and finally blossomed into a university in 1971.
It is based in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and has achieved high rankings for its teaching and educational programs. The institute aims to instil confidence and critical thinking in its students for them to face real world challenges and be the leaders that their communities need.
With its goals for development of passion, for inclusivity and engagement, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire offers a resourceful campus environment which offers not just academic opportunities but various leadership and developmental activities. There are more than 250 registered student organisations in various disciplines and interests inviting students to be part of engaged learning environment. These activities and organisations are a mixture of learning, fun as well as leadership development and programs such as Blu’s Organizations Bash, The Forum + Artists Series, Campus films and volunteering opportunities. There is also the University Activities Commission (UAC) which organizes events and festivals and runs on student participation. The university also has active Greek life. The campus also houses a student center and offers recreational activities where students become part of 878 intramural teams and 27 club sports. There are also other fitness activities such as athletic participation at NCAA Division III; they are called ‘Blugolds’, and the official colors are Navy Blue and Old gold.
Academic programs at the university include more than 80 undergraduate programs and 14 graduate programs. Its notable facilities are the W.R. Davies Student Center, Phillips Science Hall, the Hibbard Humanities Hall, W. L. Zorn Arena, Hobbs Ice Center, Schneider Social Sciences Hall, Schofield Hall and more.
