UCCS is a private higher education institute and initially beginning as the extension campus of the University of Colorado in Boulder; its roots can be traced back to 1870s. However, it was in 1965 that it was designated as the extension to the university. It remained so till the year 1972 when it was made into a separate campus of the parent university.

University of Colorado Colorado Springs is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado and stays as part of the state university system of Colorado. Being an institute dedicated to research, the university aims to offer its students intellectual growth, experiences and opportunities aimed at bringing betterment to the communities around the world.

The university offers a vibrant campus environment which adds a new dimension to the rigorous academic life of the students. There are over 300 clubs and campus organizations and its Fraternity and Sorority life which lets students follow their passion outside of classrooms and meet new people. The university also offers program ‘Live Leadership’ which trains students into acquiring leadership skills and being mentored by professionals. For a more practical experience, the students have the opportunity to work in the Student Government Association. For the students looking for community service and involvement, the Center for Civic Engagement and Service offers various opportunities of volunteer work with many organizations within and outside of campus. Fun and entertainment come on campus through various events such as DisOrientation week, Roaring Weekends, Clyde’s Kickoff and more. There is also campus media, the Scribe and campus radio, which the students can take part in. The campus recreation and wellness center is another place where students enjoy being involved in physical activities. Moreover, there is athletic participation by the teams called Mountain Lions at NCAA Division II. The campus colors are Black and Gold and the official mascot is ‘Clyde’.

The academic programs offered are 45 bachelor’s, 23 master’s and five doctoral degrees programs and the notable facilities/departments on campus are Beth-El College of Nursing & Health Sciences, Osborne Center for Science and Engineering, El Pomar Center, Kraemer Family Library and few more.
