Touro College Seal About Touro College

Touro College, officially known as Touro College and University System, is a private higher education institute located in New York City, New York. The college was established in 1971 by Dr. Bernard Lander and named in honor of Isaac and Judah Touro. It aimed at supporting the Judaic tradition and serving the broader community. In the same year, the college received its charter from the Board of Regents of the State of New York. The first class enrolled at the college consisted of 35 students. In 1980s, Touro expanded by opening the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center and the School for Lifelong Education in addition to opening the school for recent immigrants. In the 1990s, the college continued expanding by establishing more schools. New branch campuses were opened in Brooklyn and Manhattan. In 1998, the college started offering online programs collectively known as Touro University International. Since 2000, the college expanded more by opening additional campuses in Los Angeles and Miami as well as international campuses in Paris and Berlin. In 2007, two of the college employees

Touro states that its mission is to offer world-class educational opportunities to all students regardless of their races, nations, and creeds. The college main campus is located at 19 Skyline Drive in Hawthorne. It occupies a five-story building covering 249,000 square-feet.  The official colors of the colors are blue and white.

Touro College and University System is divided into 9 schools and colleges including Lander College, the Anna Ruth and Mark Hasten School and Machon L’Parnasa/Institute for Professional Studies. Additionally, the college operates 6 separate centers including Lander Center for Educational Research.
