About The Master’s University
The Master’s University is a private Christian liberal arts university located in Santa Clarita, California. The university was established in 1927 and was initially named Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary. The first class consisted of 24 students who were taught in temporary location at Calvary Baptist Church. The college faced critical financial situation in the first years was challenging and faculty members had to voluntary cede their salaries and sell pieces of lands to support the operation of the college. In 1933, the college moved to its first permanent campus at the Kaspar Cohn Hospital before moving again in 1942 to a separate building in Boyle Heights. Four years later, the college started offering bachelor degree programs with the aim of providing college education to veterans coming back from World War II. The college division was officially established in 1950. The college purchased in 1961 a property from Happy Jack’s Dude Ranch in the Santa Clarita Valley. The property was used to establish a new campus which was opened in 1977. The college received accreditation in 1975 from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The college changed its name to the current one to show its nondenominational nature. In the following years, the college further expanded by offering master’s degree program and opening an international campus in Jerusalem known as IBEX.
The university states that its mission is to prepare the students a life of enduring commitment to Christ, biblical fidelity, moral integrity, intellectual growth and to contribute with a lasting effect on the world community. The university athletic teams are nicknamed mustangs and their official colors are gold and navy blue. Their teams compete in NCAA as members of the Golden State Athletic Conference.
Master’s offers undergraduate programs in 12 majors in addition to 4 graduate programs. There are also some programs offered completely online.
