The Baptist College of Florida Seal About The Baptist College of Florida

The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) is a private higher education institute accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges as level III institution. The college was established in 1943 by a group of pastors. Classes started in 1945 and were initially held in a Sunday school room in the First Baptist Church of Lakeland, Florida. The college was initially named Florida Baptist Institute. It aimed at providing seminary training for students who do not have college degrees. The college adopted free-enrollment policy allowing the admission of Baptist and non-Baptist students.  In 1947, the college purchased seven-acre piece of land to establish its own campus. In the same year, the institute was renamed Baptist Bible Institute of Florida referring to the institute’s nature and mission. The name was shortened to Baptist Bible Institute. During the presidency of Arthur Stainback, the college was relocated to a new 160-acre campus in Graceville. The college also expanded academically offering 3-year diploma programs. In 1976, the college started offering 4-year degree programs. The college programs received accreditation from in 1981 from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. In 1988, the college started offering associate degree programs and changed its name in the same year to Florida Baptist Theological College. The college later terminated the diploma programs. The college gained its current name in 2000 and then started offering graduate degree programs.

The college states that its mission is to offer graduate and undergraduate degree programs within the Christian worldview. The college campus is located in Graceville hosting several distinctive buildings including R.G. Lee Chapel, R.C. Mills Center, Solomon Hall, Graceville Hall, Ida J. McMillan Library, McRae-Morrow Hall, Deese Center, Brackin-Chandler Hall and Napier Hall. Additionally, the college offers classes at two distant sites in Jacksonville and

Orlando. Some programs are also offered online.

The college offers 3 associate, 18 bachelor and 2 master degree programs.
