SUNY Empire State College Seal About SUNY Empire State College

SUNY Empire is public institute and a liberal arts college that is part of the State University of New York. The college was founded in year 1971 by the then chancellor of SUNY Ernest Boyer and was aimed as a college for the state public university and to provide adult education. The college was designed to be highly flexible with students proposing their educational needs and their ultimate goals.

The college is a multi-campus institute and based in more than 30 different locations throughout the state of New York, however has its main offices based in Saratoga Springs, New York. With its affordable yet innovative and flexible education plan, the college transforms its students into empowered individuals, professionals and engaged citizens of local and global communities.

At SUNY Empire State College, throughout all of its campuses, students find range of vibrant and engaging activities and opportunities that develop them not just for academic achievement but also professional success. Collectively the college offers 18 registered student run clubs and organisations which let the students participate in learning activities outside of the classroom. These include ethic, academic, social, arts and other interest clubs. There is also the Student Government called the Student Affairs Committee which is managed both by the students and the faculty and runs committees and organizes activities such as Student Leadership Institute, Student Arts Competition, Academic conference as well as other special programs such as peer to peer program, honors committee and else. Students are supported throughout their academic journey with extra academic support including tutoring, writing assistance, math center and study skill workshops. There are career services which also help students advance in professional development and job scoring even before they have graduated.

For the students, SUNY Empire offers Associate and Bachelors degree in 12 areas of study and a RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. It also offers 14 graduate degree programs, and advanced certificate programs through its online education.
