SUNY at Fredonia is a pubic liberal arts four year college that is part of the State University of New York. It opened its doors originally in 1826 as Fredonia Academy. Within a year the academy turned into a state normal college, however it faced closure and reopened in 1867. It still faced trouble but somehow managed to stay open until it became part of the state system after it was formed in 1948.

It is based in Fredonia, New York and over time has emerged as an institute that is student focused. With its strong academics it equips students with intellect and skills, prepares them for global challenges and with strong academic programs and a student focused environment, the university aims to promote innovation, inclusion and creativity.

At the campus of State University of New York at Fredonia, students hop onto a journey which is about education and learning but also about making memories and lasting connections. Students enjoy participating in over 170 student clubs about arts, service, recreation, Greek life, and many more and which serve as spaces to meet new people. Students learn leadership qualities trough activities such as ‘leadership corps’, ‘change projects’, ‘Ropes Course’ and few more. There is also the Student Association where students find the opportunities to test leadership skills by working as student representation, working for their welfare, removing grievances, sponsoring events, and supporting student groups. The campus students also participate in community service by celebrating ‘Day of Service’ or volunteering for ‘Habitat for Humanity’, ‘soup kitchen’ or others. For off campus fun, the student run WHOA committee helps find free events and activities for students to enjoy around the region. There are campus athletic teams, ‘Blue Devils’ which compete at NCAA Division III. The official colors are Blue and White.

The academic programs at the college consist of 65+ Bachelors degree programs, 21 Masters degree programs and several other certification programs. The notable facilities are Mason Hall, Daniel A. Reed Library, Houghton Hall, Fenton Hall, Jewett Hall, Williams Center, Michael C. Rockefeller Arts Center and others.
