About Regis University
Regis is a private Roman Catholic university that was founded by Italian Jesuits, who were exiled. They established Las Vegas College in the year 1877 and originally, in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Not long had passed, when in 1884 the college relocated to Morrison, Colorado and was renamed as Sacred Heart.
It moved to its present location in Denver, Colorado, when the land was donated by John Brisben Walker in 1877. It went on to become Regis College in 1921 and with further expansion and acquisition of other existing institutes, it became Regis University in the year 1991.
Student life at Regis is much more than just academics; students get involved in activities on and off campus which ensures overall development. New students are welcomed into the campus community through various orientation activities including the learning communities, introducing them to campus resources as well as people. There are more than 30 student-run clubs available open to student participation. A student government organization works on campus, organizing activities and events, and also offering a platform for those interested in experiencing leadership. Leadership learning is also offered through workshops, certificate programs, summits, retreats etc. There are also community engagement and service programs offered such as health and wellness projects, including food programs, fitness activities, and many such more. There is also the university ministry helping students with religious activities and encouraging spirituality. Furthermore, students enjoy the university’s traditional events such as Snow Week, Welcome Week, Thursday Thrills, Ranger Week and more. There are also activities and resources for recreation such as fitness centers and sports. There are campus athletic teams, Rangers playing at NCAA Division II. The official colors are Blue and Gold and the mascot is ‘Roamin’ the Ranger’.
Academic programs at Regis consist of 70+ undergraduate programs, 40+ graduate and four Doctoral degree programs. Its notable facilities are Dayton Memorial Library, Anderson College of Business, College of Contemporary Liberal Studies, Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professions, DeSmet Hall and more.
