About Providence Christian College
Providence Christian College is a private college of liberal arts located in Pasadena, California. The first meeting to establish the college was held in 2001 in Chino, California. It was agreed at this meeting to establish high quality college that is administered by independent Board of Directors including members from various Reformed and Presbyterian churches. The college was incorporated in the following year and the first board meeting was held in 2003. The college purchased its campus in 2004 in Ontario and started a renovation process before starting classes in the following year. In 2010, the college relocated to its current location in Pasadena, California.
The college states that it mission as the only only Reformed Christian college on the West Coast is to provide solid knowledge to the students in biblical truth to get fully engaged in their community. Providence is hosted within William Carey International University campus which is also shared with the U.S. Center for World Mission. The campus covers 17.5 acres and features several distinctive buildings and facilities including Speer Hall, MacGavran Hall, Franson Hall, Mott Memorial Auditorium, Zwemer Hall, Carmichael Hall, Townsend Hall, Latourette Library and Aylward Residence Hall. The college athletic teams compete in NAIA conference. Their mascot is called the Sea Beggars while their official colors are royal blue and orange.
The college follows a holistic mode of education that practical application of theoretical teaching in cultural immersion experiences. The program is known as the Avodah Program which is an Hebrew word that means work, worship and service. The college is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
