About Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico-Orlando
A private, non profit higher education institute, PUPR is a present day coeducational university that was founded in the year 1966. It was founded in San Juan, Puerto Rico and to provide specialized education and training in the field of Land Surveying and Mapping. Within a few years the institute’s program had success in the region and it updated its curriculum to offering Bachelors degree programs by year 1974.
Before the end of the 20th century, the institute achieved further milestone as it started offering Masters degree programs by year 1998. The university also added two more campuses, one in Miami and another in Florida. At the Orlando campus importance is given to improving student knowledge, intellect and leadership capacity through understanding of diversity and global conditions.
For empowering its students and for effective development in personal as well as professional lives, Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico-Orlando provides with guidance and mentoring for its students at the campus. Students find assistance, guidance and advice in all matters of academics from the choice of field to any personal decisions that hinder academic achievements. It also helps students in their career choices. There is also the Career and Internship Services Program which aims to connect its student’s academic choices and achievements with their professional goals. It helps students gain employment experience even before they have graduated through its internship services. This helps students in not only experience their professional choices and better prepare for them but also increases the opportunity to connect them with potential employers. There are also extracurricular activities offered through Student Council serving as student representation or other existing organisations such as Disciplines Committee, Student Resource and Information Center etc. Also organised are workshops, seminars and individual and group sessions with community leaders and impactful public figures.
At the Orlando campus, the academic programs offered consist of 11 undergraduate programs and two Masters degree programs, in the field of management and engineering.
