Plaza College Seal About Plaza College

Plaza College is a private for-profit higher education institute located in Forest Hills, New York. The college was established in 1916 by Charles E. Callahan and his wife, Anna S. Callahan. It was initially located in Long Island City and aimed at providing education to women whose husbands and fathers were participating in the war. In 1970, the college expanded by relocating to a larger campus known as the Bruson Building in Jackson Heights, Queens. Five years later, the college started offering 2-year educational programs. In 1975, the college started offering 2-year degree programs. Two years later, the college appointed its first board of trustees. In 1982, Plaza received approval to offer associate degree programs and accordingly the name was changed from Plaza Business School to Plaza Business Institute. In 1991, the college received initial accreditation as a college changing its name to the current name. Plaza received complete accreditation in 2002 from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. In 2014, the college was relocated to a new campus in Forest Hills Tower in Forest Hills, Queens.

Plaza states that its mission is to offer specialized education to students who seek challenging careers and continuation of their formal education. The college occupies the first and second floors of Forest Hills Tower with its own street level entrance.
