About Palo Alto University

Palo Alto University is a private non-profit higher education institute located in Palo Alto, California. The university was established in 1975 under the name of Pacific Graduate School of Psychology. It is independent from the similarly named institute, Pacifica Graduate Institute which is located in Carpinteria, California. The school received its accreditation in 1986 from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. In 1988, the school relocated to East Meadow Drive, Palo Alto, California. In 2008, the university purchased a new campus which was formerly occupied by the American Institutes for Research. In the following year, the school was reincorporated changing its name to the current one. At the same time, the college relocated to its newly purchased campus in Carpinteria. In 2013, the college had a partnership agreement with the College of San Mateo to start offering bachelor degree programs.

The university states that its mission is to offer innovative education that engages minds and improves lives. Students at the university receive practical clinical at the Gronowski Center. It is a mental health clinic offering high quality low cost services to the local community of the San Francisco Bay Area.

The university offers 2 bachelor degree programs, 2 masters programs and a doctoral program. Bachelor programs are dedicated to transfer students or graduate students planning to gain a psychology-related degree. One master’s program is offered exclusively online while the other one is offered both on campus and online. The doctoral program is accredited by the American Psychological Association since 1988.
