OSUIT is a public and state supported institute that is part of the Oklahoma State University System, the flagship campus of which was founded in 1890 under the Morrill Act of 1862. It is a technical institute of the system and was founded in year 1946. It was originally called as the Oklahoma A. and M. College School of Technical Training. As it extended its academic offerings it was renamed several times, with the present name being adopted in 2008.

The institute is based in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, OSUIT offers advance technology programs through an applied learning curriculum. With its comprehensive programs, openness to diversity and innovation, the institute not just quality work force but contributing members of society.

At the campus of Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology students find a vibrant environment. The ‘Cowboy Life’ is much more than academic and so students find extracurricular activities in the form of participation and involvement in the student clubs. There are over 20 student led clubs and organisations on campus where students meet other students for learning outside of classrooms and that share similar interests with them. There is also a Student Union, an activity center offering bookstore, veteran lounge, post office, health services and other such. There are also other various student activities that don’t just promote involvement but also bring entertainment and fun for the students, these include Children’s Christmas Party, Welcome Back Lunches, concerts etc. There are also community service events such as the Blood Drives and Wellness Programs. Discussion and seminars are also arranged on the campus aimed at being service learning, skill development and leadership growth. Recreation and sports is offered through intramurals which are a good way for physical fitness as well as healthy competition. The campus colors are Orange and Black.

Academic programs at OSUIT include over 30 programs in technical fields including Associate degree programs as well as Pre professional programs. There are 10 schools through which these programs are offered.
