New England College About New England College

New England College is a private non-profit college found in Henniker, New Hampshire. The college was established in 1946 to provide educational opportunities for the students who intended to join higher education on the G.I. bill after participating in the World War II. During the early years of the college, the Tortington Park School for girls in Arundel in West Sussex, England was purchased to act as a branch campus for students wishing to study abroad. At that time, the college changed its logo to include the flags of both England and the United States. The theater department used to send its students to the branch campus to perform three shows in Europe. However, the branch campus was later closed and sold.

New College has a rural campus located in small town of Henniker, New Hampshire. The campus covers 225 acres along Contoocook River. Prominent buildings on campus include John Lyons Academic Center. The college is also connected by a bridge to athletic fields covering around 20 acres. New College produces a newspaper called “The New Englander” in addition to broadcasting an FM radio channel called WNEC-FM. The college athletic teams, who are nicknamed Pilgrims, competed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference in the period between 1989 to 2011, then in the North Atlantic Conference between 2011 to 2018, competing afterwards in the New England Collegiate Conference. The official colors of the college are red, blue and navy while its mascot is called Patty the Pilgrim.

The college provides educational programs that emphasizes on experiential learning. It offers 37 bachelor degree programs, 12 master’s degree programs in addition to a doctoral degree program. It is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
