Molloy College Seal About Molloy College

Molloy College is a private Catholic higher education institute located in Long Island, New York. It was established in 1955 by the Dominican Sisters of Amityville as a women’s college under the name of Molloy Catholic College. The land for establishing the campus was purchased by the Dominican Sisters in 1941 in Rockville Center covering 25 acres. Construction of the first building on campus, Quealy Hall, started in 1956. The college held its first graduation ceremony in 1959. The name of the college was changed again in 1971 to its current name. In the following year, male students were admitted for the first time to the nursing program and it took 10 more years for the institute to become fully educational.

Molloy campus covers 30 acres and offers several distinctive buildings and facilities to the students including Kellenberg Hall, Casey Building, Wilbur Arts Center, Quealy Hall, Siena Hall and Fitzgerald Hall. Students have the option to stay at one of the two residential halls on campus. Moreover, the campus includes the Madison Theatre which is a 550-seat theatre that was inaugurated in 2011. The official colors of the college are white and cerise while its mascot is called Victor E. Lion. Its athletic teams compete in the NCAA Division II.

The college is divided into 7 division offering 34 undergraduate programs and 4 graduate degree programs including a doctoral degree program. The college is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in addition to accreditation from 8 accrediting entities. It has achieved prominent ratings from several organizations as it has been ranked among the top institutes in the Northeast by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report. It has also been ranked among the top 20 college based on the payment that its graduates receive.
