Metropolitan College of New York is a private non-profit college that follows an educational centered-focused philosophy developed by its founder Audrey Cohen. It was established in 1964 and was initially named the Women’s Talent Corp. The name was changed 6 years later to become the College for Human Services and the college received its charter in the same year from the New York State Board of Regents. The college started its first graduate program in 1988. The name was changed again in 1992 to Audrey Cohen College after the name of its founder before being changed again to its current name ten years later. In 2012, the college moved to its current main campus in Manhattan with a branch campus in the Bronx.

The college follows educational philosophy that focuses on purpose of what is being learned. It aims at integrating the student’s career with what they learn so that “they work full time while working full time”. Accordingly, students should be able to continue their career while working for their degrees. The official colors of the college are red and black.

The college is divided into three schools including The Audrey Cohen School for Human Services and Education. It offers 2 associate degree programs, 3 bachelor degree programs, 2 master degree programs, 3 MBA programs in addition to 3 other programs. The MBA programs require international field experience as part of the study. It is accredited by the Middle States Commission of Higher Education. There are 20 scholarship and grant programs available at the college providing financial support to the students as Henry Buhl Scholarship and MCNY Bronx & Bronx Recognition Award.
