Lynn University Seal About Lynn University

Lynn University is a private University located in Boca Raton, Florida. It was established by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1962 in honor of Lynn family; Christine E. and Eugene M. Lynn. It initially operated under the name of Marymount College as a women’s junior college. The name was changed in 1974 to the College of Boca Raton before being changed again in 1991 to honor its benefactors; the Lynn family; Christine E. and Eugene M. Lynn. The university has an international environment with around 24% coming from 80 countries other than USA. In 2006, Donald E. Ross retired after 35 years in as the university’s president receiving a total compensation of $5,738,422 which is the highest compensation for any university president in the United States. In 2012, Lynn university hosted the third presidential debate between president Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney focusing on U.S. foreign policy.

Lynn campus covers 115 acres offering several distinctive facilities including Assaf Academic Center, Bobby Campbell Stadium, de Hoernle International Center, E. M. Lynn Residence Center, Freiburger Residence Hall, Green Center, McCusker Pool Complex, Mohammed Indimi International Business Center, Schmidt College Center, Snyder Sanctuary, St. Joseph Hall, Trinity Residence Hall and Wold Performing Arts Center. The official colors of the university are blue and white while its mascot is called Lance the Fighting Knight. Its athletic teams, who are called the Fighting Knights, compete in the Sunshine State Conference as a NCAA Division II institution.

The university is divided into 6 colleges and schools offering more than 25 undergraduate programs and 10 graduate degree programs with 52 areas of studies. Lynn University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
