Keene State College Seal About Keene State College

Keene State College is a public liberal arts college located in Keene, New Hampshire. It is a member of the University System of New Hampshire and of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. The college was established in 1909 as Keene Normal School. Its name was changed to Keene Teachers College before being renamed to its current name.

Keene campus offers several distinctive buildings and facilities to the students as Fiske Hall which is the oldest building on campus built in 1909 and renovated in 2007, Holloway Hall which is the first year students residence, Media Arts Center which is the newest facility on campus built in 2006 and Mason Library which hosts the Cohen Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Redfern Arts Center is the campus arts and performing center containing three performance avenues: the Alumni Recital Hall, the Main Theater and the Wright theatre. Other prominent facilities include Adams Technology, Butterfield Hall, Elliot Hall, Huntress Hall, Putnam Science Center, Spaulding Gymnasium, Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery, Young Student Center and Zorn Dining Commons.

The college offers undergraduate programs, master’s degree programs and certification programs in more than 40 areas of study. It also offers an integrative study program in addition to The Morris-August Honors Program. The Princeton Review ranked Keene College among the best colleges and universities in the Northeast in 2006.
