Horizon University About Horizon University

Horizon University is a Christian private higher educational institute located in San Diego, California. It was founded in 1993 by the Horizon Christian Fellowship church under the name of Horizon Bible Institute. The institute operated as a non-accredited school through a religious exemption from the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education. Starting 2000, the institute established agreement with Azusa Pacific University’s Haggard Graduate School of Theology to allow Horizon graduates to complete their graduate degrees from the university. Horizon established similar agreements with Bethel Seminary and Southern California Bible College and Seminary in 2005 and 2007, respectively. In 2004, the institute was renamed Horizon College San Diego to reflect the expansion of the degree programs and plans to grow in the future. In the same year, the college started offering full time degree and online programs. Two years later, the college moved to the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego. It moved again in 2010 to its current location. In 2017, the college achieved the university status changing its name to the current one. The university is affiliated to Horizon Christian Fellowship which has been established 41 years ago by Michael K. MacIntosh and currently covers 22 acres including Horizon academy and the university.

The current campus of the university covers 16 acres offering several facilities to the students including Nike athletic field and 700+ seat auditorium.

The university states its mission is to provide Christ-centered education that would offer the students the skills, knowledge, biblically integrated understanding to become inspiring leaders in their professions and attract other for Christ.

The university offers 4 programs granting Associate and Bachelor of Biblical studies degrees, Bachelor of Leadership and Ministry and Bachelor of Organizational Leadership. The university is currently accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education.
