Hamilton Technical College About Hamilton Technical College

Hamilton Technical College was founded in 1969, in Bettendorf, as the Academy of Radio and Television (ART) by Charles Hamilton, Jr., who started it by teaching students to take the Federal Communications Commission examination needed for broadcasting. While preparing the students around his kitchen table, he was inspired beyond the test preparation to train them to be broadcasters. The vision of Hamilton grew with the need of the employer and the academy developed an Electronics program in 1978 and was recognized as a Technical College specializing in Electronics Engineering Technology. The named was modified into ART Technical College.  The program grew more and the name was changed into Hamilton Technical College in 1980 (HTC). In 1991, HTC moved all classes to the contemporary location in Davenport, Iowa. In the same year, the college responded to the community need by initiating the Medical Assisting Technology program as a 9-months diploma.

The mission of Hamilton Tech is “to educate for a rewarding career”

The college is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). It is also a member of the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Hamilton Tech has two main schools; the School of Technology that includes the Electronics Engineering Technology program and School of Allied Health that includes both the Medical Billing and Coding program and the Medical Assisting Technology program.
