Gulf Coast State College About Gulf Coast State College

Gulf coast State College (GCSC) is a four-year public co-educational institute that is located in Panama City, Florida. The two houses of Florida Legislature agreed to inaugurate a co-educational college to provide educational services to citizens in the region. Accordingly, the institute was established as Gulf Coast Junior College in 1957. Gulf Coast Junior College expanded along the years. It was merged with Rosenwald Junior College in 1966 to change its name to Gulf Coast Community College. It continued growing and changed its name finally to be Gulf Coast State College on the 13th of January, 2011. Besides GCSC main campus in Panama City, it has established other remote campuses that are located in Southport, Port St. Joe, and at Tyndall Air Force Base.

GCSC mission is to help student develop both their academic and professional profiles through building up their critical & intellectual thinking and problem solving skills beside their academic studies.

Besides the academic and professional development, GCSC provides high athletics facilities to students. The college athletics teams participate in many different sports and championships such as the Panhandle Conference of the Florida State College Activities Association.

Gulf Coast State offers four-year bachelor degrees in six disciplines that focus on business, information technology and health science related fields. In addition it offers more than one hundred associate degrees in arts and sciences in different disciplines. Moreover, it offers more than 45 adult certificates in a number of different fields in arts, science and engineering.
