Florida College About Florida College

Florida College (FC) is a private Christian national coeducational institute that was established as a junior college in the City of Temple Terrace, Florida, in 1946. Its campus is located only 13 kilometers away from northeast of the City of Tampa, Florida. The college has attracted most of its students, faculty and staff from the non-institutional churches of Christ. FC was founded mainly to provide biblical studies, trainings and support for priests and pastors. During the 1950s, most of the students in FC were old people, however, during the 1960s; its policies changes to include students outside churches of Christ. In 1963, students and faculty voted to remove the word “Christian” from the college’s name. During the 1970s, the majority of students became from churches of Christ. However, they were much younger and more imitative than those who joined FC during the 1950s. In 1996, FC inaugurated its first accredited four-year undergraduate program in Arts in Biblical Studies. Since then, FC expanded its undergraduate programs to include business, communication, liberal studies, history and elementary education. FC campus has a unique location where it is surrounded by the Hillsborough River at one side, while the other three sides of the campus are surrounded by the private golf course land of the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club.

FC mission is to help students build up their intellectual skills, personal development and spiritual life. It aims at including the Bible in the students’ lives in order to be well-prepared to serve God and the surrounding community.

The college is ranked to be the highest university in the nation to receive donations from its alumni across USA from 2011 till 2013. FC campus has the most two historic buildings in the City of Terrace. The first is Sutton Hall which returns back to 1922 when it was built as a club house for the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club. The second one is the students’ center which was built originally as the Club Morocco Nightclub and Casino.

FC offers 17 undergraduate programs in bible, liberal arts, science, sports, and music with 25 majors.
