Flagler College Seal About Flagler College

Flagler College, commonly known as Flagler, is a private four year educational institute offering liberal arts education in St. Augustine, Florida. It was named after its founder Henry Morrison Flagler who established in 1986. Henry Flagler was an industrialist, a rail road frontier and Florida east coast developer. Flagler College was first established in the Ponce de León Hotel which was originally built as a luxury hotel since 1988 by Henry M. Flagler. Henry M. Flagler granted Lawrence Lewis the leadership to establish the board of trustees to inaugurate Flagler College. Lawrence Lewis remained to be the chairman of the board of trustees for more than 20 years and was successful to support Flagler College with millions of dollars from several organizations, family members and personal funds. These funds helped Flagler College to be expanded in terms of building new constructions, restoring old ones and increasing the offered academic programs. Flagler campus occupies around 19 acres  surrounded by wonderful gardens of oaks and palms. St. Augustine’s history returns back to 1565 when it was constructed by Don Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, a Spanish explorer, and remained as one of the marvelous touristic attractions in Florida since then.

Flagler’s mission is to provide students with an outstanding learning environment in a wonderful campus full of magical gardens and plants to be able to achieve their goals. Such environment would help them build up their intellectual capabilities, personal skills and be productive responsible citizens.

Flagler College is ranked the 2nd in the South regional colleges according to the U.S. News and World’s Reports in 2017. It was ranked by the Princeton Reviews as one of the best 381 educational institutes offering undergraduate education in the U.S. In addition, its campus was ranked the 4th by “College Magazine’s Top 10 Schools for Beach Lovers” on July 2016, and the 2nd by BuzzFeed on “25 Of The Most Beautiful College Campuses In The World”.
