Felician University About Felician University

Felician University (FU), a Catholic, Franciscan institute, is private co-educational university located in two campuses in Lodi and Rutherford, New Jersey. FU is a higher education institute that has been established along with other two higher institutions by the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Felix of Cantalice “Felician Sisters” of Lodi since July 1923. FU was founded as the Normal School to train and certify teachers for more than 10 years. On May 1935, the Normal school as accredited by the Catholic University of America to be a teacher training college. The teacher training college continued growing to be a junior one in 1941, then a year later, it was accredited by the laws of the State of New Jersey as an Immaculate Conception Junior College. On December 1963, the college was authorized to grant the degree of Associate in Arts by the State Department of Education. Finally, the college was accredited by the New Jersey State Department of Education to change its name to Felician University and be able to offer its 4 year program in Elementary Teacher Education. FU is only 19 kilometers far away from New York City.

Felician mission is to help student achieve their goals and serve their surrounding community.  It targets spreading love for God in addition to liberal arts, learning and knowledge.

FU fosters, in addition to religious and liberal education, athletics in order to participate in the development of the student skills and capabilities at different levels. FU campus is divided into two sections in Lodi and Rutherford that are connected together along the day by a shuttle bus service. The campus includes John J. Breslin Theatre and a unique library that contains more than 115,000 books, 43,000 online books, 20,000 online journals, 360 print periodicals, in addition to the computer rooms, and quiet study areas.

FU offers more than 60 undergraduate programs, more than 10 master programs and 2 doctoral programs. FU consists of 4 schools which are School of Arts & Sciences, School of Business, School of Education and School of Nursing.
