Farmingdale State College is a public higher education institute for applied science and technology studies. It is situated in Long Island in East Farmingdale, New York. It is part of the State University of New York (SUNY), so it is commonly known as SUNY Farmingdale. The College was first founded in its current location in 1912 as a school for studying applied agricultural studies only and was known at that time by New York State School of Agriculture. Afterwards, it extended rapidly to be the greatest major school of science and technology in SUNY. Farmingdale campus occupies more than 380 acres and include around 30 academic buildings.

SUNY Farmingdale community targets developing people with high ability of intellectual potential, data analysis and problem solving. SUNY Farmingdale aims at spreading of distinction and divergence in teaching, learning technologies and research in order to build up distinguished graduates capable of serving the community through ideal approaches.

Being the largest Science and Technology College in SUNY, Farmingdale has been ranked by the US News and World Report as one of the most distinguished colleges in the North from 2012 till 2017. In addition, has ranked it as one of the best 150 national public schools. Moreover, it has been ranked by the as the 5th and 25th safest campus in 2015 and 2016 respectively. The oldest and most famous two buildings in the campus were built in 1914 and named Horticulture and Agronomy buildings. Nowadays, they are called Hicks and Cutler Halls respectively.

SUNY Farmingdale offers more than 30 undergraduate degrees, 8 associate degrees and 1 master degree. It consists of 4 schools which are School of Arts & Sciences, School of Business, School of Engineering Technology, and School of Health Sciences in addition to 6 research centers including Renewable Energy and Sustainability Center, Solar Energy Center and others.
