FDU is a private and coeducational university and the largest in the state of New Jersey. The institute began in year 1942 when it was founded Dr. Peter Sammartino and his wife, Sylvia and offered a two year curriculum. It wasn’t long before the college, with hard work, transformed into a four year college. By 1954 the college had also introduced its first graduate program and with that progressed as a university approved by the New Jersey State Board of Education.

Fairleigh Dickinson University is a multi campus institute with two campuses based in Teaneck and Madison, New Jersey, and international campuses in Wroxton, Oxfordshire and Vancouver, British Columbia. With its quality education, the university imparts knowledge and skills aimed at professional development and community building.

FDU’s campus in Teaneck, called the Metropolitan campus is a huge campus with a large student body offering a diverse yet fulfilling learning experience to each one of its students. The campus has Hackensack River running through which adds to the beauty of the campus. The campus life is filled with activities and there is immense focus on research. For socialising and extracurricular it offers more than 60 student led cubs and organisations – academic, professional to volunteering and social clubs. There are also fraternities and sororities on the campus. Students find fun and entertainment as students bring creative and arts performances such as theatre, dance and various arts productions. The campus also has its traditions such as Greek Week, Kwanzaa Week, Spring Jam, Aids Awareness Week etc. Sports and athletics are also significant for the students in campus; the teams take part at NCAA Division I and the mascot is called ‘Nitro the Knight’. The official colors are Blue and Red.

Academic programs offered at FDU consist of eight Associate degree, over 85 Bachelors degree programs, over 60 minors and more than 55 Masters and three doctoral programs. Its prominent departments/ facilities are Silberman College of Business, Petrocelli College of Continuing Studies, Knight Club Gameroom, Rothman Center and few more.
