Edgewood College Seal About Edgewood College

Edgewood is a private coeducational higher education institute that goes back to year 1894 when it opened as Sacred Heart Academy, and in the beginning of 20th century expanded into higher education by establishing a junior college for women, in 1927.  It was during 1940s that the college was granted the power to award degrees and became a four year educational programs and by 1670 became a coeducational institute.

With its liberal arts education, the college offers growth and learning rooted in Dominican tradition. Its students are prepared for globally connected societies and to work towards building a better future through meaningful contribution, compassion and development in personal and professional spheres. The college is based in Madison, Wisconsin.

At Edgewood College, the resources are committed to offering a complete development of each of its students. Dominican life dominates how the students develop their faith and spirituality through prayer and worships in groups and alone. There are also mission trips, chapel sessions, engagement with local community and interfaith activities. Students are also offered service learning programs during academic breaks. This comes with acceptance of other cultures and perspectives and helps ensure healthy community life within the campus. Further student involvement comes through student clubs which provide learning and serve as socialising platforms. There are more than 50 organisations offering academics, social justice, recreation as well as well opportunities for leadership participation through government association or serving as ambassadors. Bringing entertainment for students, the college campus also holds yearly events such as Fall Fest, Spring Fest, Family Weekend and Winter Frost. The students also take active participation in athletics and sports. The college teams are called ‘Eagles’ and compete at NCAA Division III. The college mascot is ‘Eddy the Eagle’.

Academic programs offered at the college consist of over 60 Majors and more than 40 Minors, 19 Masters degree programs and three Doctorate programs. It also offers certifications. The prominent departments and facilities are Henry Predolin School of Nursing, Marshall Hall, Mazzuchelli Biological Station, Weber Hall and few more.
