About Eastern Florida State College
EFSC is a public state institute and is part of the Florida College System. The college’s history goes back to 1960 when it was founded as Brevard Junior College, and in three years merged with Carver Junior College, which was also founded in year 1960. It became a community college by 1970 with the creation of two year college system. The transition happened in 2013 when it added bachelor’s degree program.
Eastern Florida State College is based in Brevard County, Florida and has campuses in Cocoa, Melbourne, Palm Bay, and Titusville. The college is committed to providing access to quality education and an environment which promotes learning, growth and instils passion at both personal and professional levels.
At EFSC students find great number of opportunities to be involved in things they find interesting, both inside and outside classrooms. Students find student led clubs and organisation on all four campuses, which offer a range of directions and skills set. There are also Student Government Associations which oversee all the activity and are the opportunity for the students to learn officer duties and leadership by taking part in them. The campus also allows students for a creative display of their expression and talents through performing and visual arts activities, bringing theatre, musical and dance acts as well as fine arts exhibits. For students wanting to get a practical experience of their learning and skills, while also being interested in community service, they find Service-Learning to be a great opportunity at the campus as it allows them to gain access outside campus and be involved in real world problems. There is also ‘Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE)’ program which works to empower women in the respective fields and careers. There is also athletic participation at NJCAA Region 8 by the teams.
Academic programs available at the college are undergraduate programs consisting of 16 Bachelors degree programs, 31 Associate degree programs along with technical certificates, diplomas, and college credit certificates. Its notable facilities are Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts, Harry T. and Harriette Moore Multicultural Center and Simpkins Fine Arts Center.
