Dominican College of Blauvelt Seal About Dominican College of Blauvelt

Dominican is a private four year liberal arts college that was founded by Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt, offering three years program in a Catholic environment. It was established in 1952 and initially offered teacher training but began admitting lay students by 1957. It became fully coeducational in 1967. Over the time, the institute added several bachelors degree program but it was in 1994 that its charter was amended to offer graduate degrees.

Dominican College of Blauvelt is located in Orangeburg, New York and is dedicated to bringing learning and growth opportunities through its liberal arts education. With its Catholic traditions, it hopes to instil moral values and the leadership excellence for its students to lead world societies with the power to change.

Students find a vibrant and exciting environment at the campus at Dominican with various opportunities as well as events to be part of and get to know everyone around. The primary most organization working on campus is the Student Government Association, which works as student representation in all spheres, voicing their issues, working to enhance the campus life. It also provides those interested with the opportunity to serve as leader and improve their skills. But, besides this, there are more than 35 student organisations offering various interests of which the students get to be a part of and get to know each other and develop various skills. For fun and entertainment, there are some traditional events held at the campus which include Family Day and Fire in the Sky, Spirit Week, Big Charger Weekend and many others. Students also take up on community service and social justice causes as they experience the real world issues and work towards improving the conditions. For recreation, there are college athletic teams, ‘Chargers’ competing at NCAA Division II. The official campus colors are Red, Black and White.

The academic programs provided at Dominican include 20 undergraduate programs, three Masters programs and two Doctoral programs. Its notable facilities are Sullivan Library, Prusmack Center, Forkel Hall, Cooke Hall, St. Catherine’s Annex, Hennessy Center and few more.
