Daemen College Seal About Daemen College

Daemen is a private coeducation liberal arts college that traces its origins to Rosary Hill College which was founded in 1947 by the St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity. By 1956 the college was accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and it was in 1971 that it started admitting men. It achieved a major milestone in 1992 when it was authorized by the, New York State to award baccalaureate and graduate level degrees.

Based in Amherst, New York, the college adopted its present name when it turned non sectarian in 1976. However this has not diverted the college from its mission of preparing not just professional but also leaders that work for a better more diversified world societies.

Daemen College is all about learning and development in a diverse environment. Outside of academic, it presents plenty of extracurricular activities. There is Student Government which is the main student representative body and which not only provides leadership learning opportunities through participation but also works to improve and enhance the campus environment. It also plans and organises student events each year. Some of these are Springfest, TGIFs, Activities Fair and many more. As new students come to the campus, they are welcomed through extensive orientation programs and senior students work as orientation leaders in helping them get around the campus. There is Wick Center on campus, which is the main hub for student life. Students gather around at the snack bar, game room, social room and their facilities present. There are also many student led clubs and organisation across varying interests, but there are specifically cultural ones which work for inter cultural relationship building and understanding. There are college athletic teams that take part in NCAA and the campus colors are Blue and White.

Academic programs at Daemen include undergraduate programs with over 55 majors, 45 minors and five pre professional programs, 18 graduate programs and 12 Certificate programs. Its notable facilities are Rosary Hall, Charles J. Wick Campus Center, and Paul A. Saffrin Center for Sustainability and Civic Engagement.
