Concordia University- Irvine Seal About Concordia University- Irvine

CUI is a private Christian institute that was established in the year 1976; however the seed for the present day university was first laid in the year 1955, when the idea for a college was first proposed. By 1962 The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) finally decided to make it happen. After a lot of site searching for almost the next decade, the construction began in 1975 and the institute began classes in 1976.

It progressed as a university in 1993 and so came the name change to Concordia University Irvine. It is based in Irvine, California and is part of the Concordia University System. The institute, guided by its Christian centered values aims to produce, out of its students, leaders and individuals who are inspired to make change and serve their professions and communities.

At CUI, the campus life is a mix of study, learn, play and pray. These come through student clubs and organisations, over 20 present on campus covering religious, cultural, academic as well as honor societies. Students are also engaged in performing arts bringing theatre and musical performances for students to enjoy; the university has its own theatre company called Looseleaf Theatre Co. There is also the LEAD program which works to enhance student experience on campus and also develops leadership capabilities in students. One unique feature of student life is the Living Learning Communities. These are residential learning spaces where students live together and hence study, learn and grow in a collaborative environment. For encouraging spiritual life, there are daily Chapel service and Bible studies inviting students for reflection.  There are also mission projects which take students around the world to serve global societies. Much like others, there is focus on physical fitness and there are also university athletic teams taking part in NCAA Division II. The campus colors are Green and Gold and the mascot is Eagles.

Academic programs at CUI include 26 undergraduate majors and 50 specializations, nine graduate programs, six online bachelor’s degrees, and four nursing programs. Its notable facility is The Rodney Lawrence Grimm Memorial Student Union.
