About Concordia College-New York
Concordia is a four year liberal arts institute, which is a sponsored institute of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. The college had humble beginnings when in 1881 it was established as part of the Lutheran Church of St. Matthew. Progressing in its education it soon moved out to its branch campus in Bronxville by 1910. It was in 1936 that it received its charter.
It is a member of the Concordia University System and is based in Bronxville, New York. Since its start, the college through its Christ centered values of learning and knowledge acquisition has been turning students into aspiring, motivated and positively contributing members of society.
At Concordia, the campus life for students is a unique mix of learning, growth as well as enjoyment. They find themselves enjoying many activities and events outside their academic routine. These include students clubs, and events such as karaoke nights, poetry events, dance shows and many others. Some of the annual and traditional college events are Spring Weekend, Fall Fest/ Homecoming and New York City Excursions, an off campus activity day for the students to enjoy. Students also take part in civic engagement events such as fundraising and awareness campaigns, working with partner organisations such as Heifer International, American Cancer Society and others. Students also take part in service trips within local communities and beyond. Spiritual and religious life has major contribution to student life at campus. Students get involved through prayer, worship and chapel sessions on weekdays, Bible study groups and outreach programs. Students are also part of musical performance groups. Students also pursue athletics enthusiastically; the college teams are called ‘Clippers’ and they take part in NCAA Division II. The college colors are Gold and Blue.
At Concordia, its academic programs consist of undergraduate programs with 14 majors and six Masters degree programs. It also offers an Associate and four Bachelors programs in its Accelerated Degree programs. Its prominent facilities are Schoenfeld Campus Center, Ralph C. Schultz Chapel, Sommer Center for Worship and the Performing Arts, Donald A. Krenz Academic Center, Feth Main Building, Scheele Memorial Library and others.
