About Cogswell College

Cogswell is a creative arts and design college that traces its beginnings to the year 1887 when Dr. and Mrs. Cogswell created a trust setting aside their fortune and property for establishment of a college. Dr. Cogswell was among the first millionaires in his region and carried a vision for a higher education institute. The college began instructions after a year in 1888, initially offering technical education and business educations for boys and girls, respectively.

It was in 1930 that it progressed as a technical degree granting college and came to its present location in San Jose, California in 2015. The college employs a more practical approach to education, offering project based programs, collaborating with industry professionals and expert faculty, carving bright careers for each of its students.

At Cogswell College, the campus offers every resource and every opportunity to its students to learn and grow. The students at the college are supported throughout the academic journey with the opportunity to practice their creativity and explore it but also with academic advising for the students to make correct choices and counselling for any personal or academic issues the students might face during their time. Tutoring services are also provided to students who wish to excel at their programs. Besides educational resources, there are various other learning opportunities that allow students to be more engaged with each other as well as community and develop interpersonal skills. These are provided as workshops teaching leadership and diversity, various student led clubs of various interests or events like No Evil Project. The college has its mascot, ‘Dragon’ and the official campus colors are Orange and Silver.

At Cogswell, the academic programs offered consist of seven Bachelors degree programs in five fields of study. Along with academic programs, there are four on campus project studios as well which provide practical education opportunities. These studios are Cogswell game studio, Media Works, Project Avatarah and Project X Productions.
