Chipola College Seal About Chipola College

Chipola is a Public institute and a state college that was established in the year 1947. It was founded as a junior college, named ‘Chipola Junior College’. The institute had been evolving its curriculum; however the transition towards a higher education institute is only recent as the college added bachelor’s degree programs, recently in 2003. The term ‘junior’ was then dropped out of it. It was named, ‘Chipola’ after the Chipola River, located within a miles distance from the campus.

It is situated in Marianna in Florida and brings an academically rich experience for its students. With its programs and opportunities, it is considered an education source for the five counties. With expert faculty, dedicated staff and students committed to learn, Chipola College aims to become the way forward.

At Chipola, students learn to be organized and disciplined while pursuing higher education and experiencing a fun and entertaining lifestyle. They are to abide by Honor Code and be open to diversity and inclusion. For learning and growth outside classrooms, students take part in student clubs and organizations. There are 22 students clubs on campus which offer spirituality, culture, science, Honor societies as well as Student Government Association (SGA). The SGA brings and supports student events and activities. There is a strong culture of fine arts and performing arts among the students.  There are theatrical performances, music groups, event called Artists series, organized by the Chipola Regional Arts Association and many other events throughout the year. The college also brings community engagement activities through its arts centers such as Applause Campaign, a fundraising event and a Community Chorus which brings singers from the community to participate. Athletics are also part of the campus life at Chipola. The teams participate at the NJCAA Region 8. The campus colors are Blue and Gold.

Academic offerings at Chipola include eight Bachelor degree programs and more than 10 Associate programs. It also offers a range Certificate programs. Its notable facilities are Dr. Gene Prough Center for the Arts and McLendon Fine Arts Building.
