Centralia College About Centralia College

Centralia is a community college and a higher education institute that was founded in 1925 as Centralia Junior College. The college existed to serve the educational needs of its communities and with slow progress, adapted to the changing needs. In 1948 the college received its first accreditation from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. By 1982, Centralia College Foundation was formed by the community members to support the college for its resources.

The college is based in Centralia, Washington and has the honor of becoming the oldest running community college in all of the state. It is on the mission to serve for alternative and affordable educational needs of its students, providing high quality academics, expert faculty, and preparing its students for making incredible contributions in the world today.

Life at Centralia College is all about a small community of students engaged in the pursuit of knowledge. With low student population in the classes, the student and faculty interaction is far more personal, individualized and effective than elsewhere. Classrooms are technologically integrated and the academics are supported through counseling service provided to support students for any rising concern or issue. Besides, student involvement is further ensured through Student Union and Student Government Association which voice student concerns but also bring activities and events. Events include speaker series, creative performances such as drama, dance, theatre, music, and more. There are student held clubs and organizations as well that bring students together on activities, skill development and interests. There are 26 clubs present on campus including cultural, educational, recreational and social clubs. Students are also involved in athletics; the campus teams take part in Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC). Its mascot is ‘Blazer Bill’.
