Bryant and Stratton College About Bryant and Stratton College

BSC is a for profit, accredited degree granting institute which was founded by brothers, John Collins Bryant and Henry Beadman Bryant, and Henry Dwight Stratton, their brother in law. It originally began as Bryant & Stratton National Business College in 1854. At that time, anyone wishing to pursue a career or work in business had to look for apprenticeship for training and so realising the need for a proper training which was readily accessible and available was greatly felt.

The institute stood up for women’s rights by creating a separate department for women students as early as 1858, faced Civil war, incorporated inventions, introducing them to its students such as the typewriter in 1968 and produced students such as John D. Rockefeller and Henry Ford. The college progressed over the years, offering bachelor’s degree in 2000.

Although Bryant & Stratton College began in Buffalo, New York but at present is based in eight states across New York, Virginia, Ohio and Wisconsin. As a higher education institute, the college believes in preparing its students in not just their chosen fields but also in skills critical for lifelong success. For this, the college has designed its program called ‘Career LifePrep’ which begins development of each individual as they walk into the college. It begins with ‘Path’, determining best skill set of each student, ‘Pro’, providing extra skills set needed by employers, ‘Plus’ supporting students in career development even after graduation and lastly ‘Team’ providing interaction with professionals and experts in the fields from day one, by having connections in the community and local businesses in all of the campus locations. Besides, students are also helped with their finances throughout their time at BSC. The college also has its athletic teams, ‘Bobcats’ which participate at the NJCAA Division I.

The academic programs at BSC consist of undergraduate degrees, diplomas, certificate, associate and bachelor’s degrees in the fields of business, design, healthcare, hospitality, legal services and technology. The instruction schedule at the college is flexible, with classes available during daytime and evenings as well as on weekends. It also offers online education.
