About Bloomfield College
A Private Liberal Arts college, Bloomfield was founded by the Presbytery of Newark in 1868. It originally began as German Theological School with the mission of making leaders for the missionary duties and churches, especially with huge German settlers at the time, a German speaking theological school became an important need. The school soon grew along with growing needs of its communities and by 1909 was authorized to grant degrees and in 1961 got its present name.
Bloomfield College stays affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and is situated in Bloomfield, New Jersey. With its lowest tuition fees in all of New Jersey, the college aims to become an institute that opens its doors for the underprivileged and sets new standards for providing for those who have not had opportunities before.
The college life at Bloomfield begins with student orientation and the first year at the college is spent where students and their families connect with the college in getting to know each other and to play significant part in the lives of the students as they hop on to their new journey. Further ahead, there are many student clubs and organisations that the students take part in and use as a way to connect with each other and bring out their interests. There are 29 student clubs besides its Greek organisations. The students are also made to take part in community building through many projects such as American Red Cross, Footsteps for Families, Make a Wish Foundation and many others. In total its students have aided 120 organisations up till now. The college has athletic teams which participate at the NCAA Division II and the campus colors are Maroon and Gold.
The Academic programs at the college cover undergraduate programs with majors in seven different departments including business, arts, nursing, humanities, education and others. The college also houses Westminster Arts Center and brings arts and cultural programs in participation with students, faculty and other partners.
