Bethesda University About Bethesda University

Bethesda is a Christian university that was founded in 1976 by Dr. David Yonggi Cho. The main driving force behind finding this university was to begin a cycle for missionary work. With the induction of Pentecostal Theology, the idea was to assist in development of future leaders who would be equipped with skills as well the vision for finding churches and establishment of institutes for Biblical education. With advancement into the 21st century as well as Pentecostal movement, this institute served as the globally integrated institute for academic as well as practical contribution to the movement. It is based in Anaheim, California.

When Dr. David Yonggi Cho founded the university, his sole purpose was to produce what he called the ‘millennium leaders’, those who were well grounded in their faith as well as, well educated and trained to deal with world problems. Its programs were well selected for the purpose and received accreditation from BPPE (California Department of Education division), the ABHE (Association for Biblical Higher Education), and TRACS (the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools).

At Bethesda University, the students are not only taught how to be the millennium leaders but also made to live it. With Christian Service and Ministry on campus, students are made to participate in the Christian Service classes which serve as Internships for its students. With Chapel gatherings, make ups as well supervised ministry the students not only learn leadership qualities but also explore their inner selves and their calling towards God through reflection and prayer. It serves as healthy activity in connecting with faculty and mentors as well.

The university offers both undergraduate and graduate programs, including Certificate, Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs. There are 11 programs in total in the discipline of Music, Business, Biblical education, Divinity, theology and others.
