About Bellevue College
Bellevue College is a Public institute that began in 1966 as Bellevue Community College. Initially, it was founded under the support of the Bellevue School District, and with the aim to serve the educational needs of the individuals in need, at the Eastside of Lake Washington. Its curriculum included English, Physics, Trigonometry and others, introducing vocational instructions in basic aircraft blueprint reading, food service management and nursing, only. By 1967, it was separated from Bellevue School District and was made independent.
Based in Bellevue, Washington, the college under great leadership since its start grew out as an independent college and also expanded its academic offerings understanding the growing educational needs of its communities. It has come to become third largest higher educational institute in all of Washington.
Life at BC is all about growth and development for its students, providing events, programs and activities that are fun and unique. Students run for student governments as well as participate in various student run clubs or associations. There are more than 60 student led programs which cover music, dance as well as business leadership as well as cultural associations. Similarly, there are clubs that address different concerns and student interests at campus such as Writing Workshops or Beekeeping Society. The Student Programs Leadership Institute at the campus seeks to develop ethical behavior, values of social justice and other such ideals in the emerging leaders at the campus, through various seminars and conferences. Students are also involved in various sustainability issues such as Global Warming and Clean energy. Besides, there is Music Department which brings fun as well as artistic performances for the students. Athletics is also considered an important part of student life and the college teams participate at the he Northwest Athletic Conference. The official college colors are Silver and Blue.
Academic programs at BC consist of undergraduate programs – Certificate, Associate and Bachelors degree programs in arts, humanities, health sciences, business, information technology and others. The college has its own Planetarium, which organizes show for students as well as public.
