About Austin Graduate School of Theology
Austin Grad is a private institute and a Christian seminary, starting of which goes back to the founding of the Bible Chair in 1917 at the University of Texas. By 1975 it expanded and started offering a bachelors degree course and transformed into the Institute for Christian Studies. It received its accreditation in the year 1987 and went on to expand its academic offerings to a master’s degree with Abilene Christian University.
Transition to Austin Graduate School of Theology took place in the year 2001 when the institute introduced its own graduate program. It is based in Austin, Texas, and is associated with the Churches of Christ.
For Austin Grad the purpose is not just education, but the wider mission of equipping its students with knowledge, have them well versed in Christian faith and building their focus on service to the people. The university provides all the resources and support that help its students achieve their goals. The faculty and staff at the school are members of the local churches; this ensures up to date teaching incorporated with practical experience. Students learn alongside the faculty in an environment which feels like a community. There are also the faculty publications that are available to not just students, but a wider audience promoting a tradition of learning at the institute.
