About University of Wisconsin-Stout
UW–Stout, an institute that is presently part of the University of Wisconsin System was founded by James Huff Stout a senator to the state, in the year 1891. It was founded as a manual training school for practical training along with the education prevailing at the time. The institute merged with many other institutes that Stout had founded and were given under the state in the year 1911.
It became a state university and was eventually made part of the system when it formed in 1971. Based in Menomonie, Wisconsin has emerged as an institute which does not only educates its students but equips them with experience and applicability of their knowledge to real world situations and challenges.
The students are prepared for the life ahead in an engaging and vibrant campus life. From skill development to career and real world experience, the university provides to each one of the needs of its students. While there is education through applied learning, there are also opportunities for student employment as well as career opportunities through internships. Further student engagement also comes through participation in campus activities. There are more than 190 student organisations where students get to build on their skills through participation in extracurricular activities. There are also community service and leadership building programs and events that further help students in their right place. Students also work for social justice causes as part of learning about empathy and compassion for their communities. There is also the student center which serves as the student space where they gather to meet, eat and have fun. Some of the traditional campus events are Backyard Bash, Soapbox Derby, etc. For physical fitness and recreation, there are various clubs ports. There are also university athletic teams called ‘Blue Devils’ that compete at NCAA Division III. The official campus colors are Blue and White.
At the university the academic programs offered are 45+ undergraduate majors and 20+ graduate programs. Its notable facilities include Robert S. Swanson Library and Learning Center, Merle M. Price Commons, Don and Nona Williams Stadium and more.
